We understand that fostering is a complex and demanding role as well as fun and incredibly rewarding. The Fostering Team is committed to ensuring that our foster carers are trained to the highest possible standard in order to meet the needs of the children and young people placed in their care.

First steps to foster course

Part of the process in becoming a foster carer includes a preparation training course called First Steps to Foster.

Post approval

Once someone is approved as a foster carer we provide a varied range of training, some of which are Core courses and others which people can take a pick and mix approach to:
